About

Matthieu Monot is a multifaceted composer whose background as a performer uniquely informs his musical creativity. After studying trombone and voice at the conservatory, he turned to composition. Through a wide range of collaborations and projects, he has developed a distinctive musical language in which acoustic textures and electronic experimentation intersect.

He has composed the music for 20 short films, ranging from animation to live-action, including the most recent ones: H.O.T.E.L. by Élise Marteau and Nos Entraves by Joe Azar. Passionate about live performance, he also composed the music for the video mapping installation presented at Montpellier en Lumière as well as for the dance performance Les Fêtes Galantes by the Arboredanse company.

A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in composition and holding of a master’s degree in Music Applied to the Visual Arts from the University of Lyon, Matthieu was selected as a finalist in the 2023 Original Soundtrack Challenge, where his music was performed by the Orchestre National d’Auvergne.

Matthieu also works as an orchestrator on various projects, including Ravens, a feature film by Mark Gill with music by Théophile Moussouni, as well as a documentary and a series featuring music by Laetitia Pansanel-Garric.

Driven by the desire to connect his artistic practice with his social commitments, Matthieu is also a trombonist, guitarist, and singer with the traveling theater company La Vélo-Scène.
